A Hybrid Wormhole Attack Detection in Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET)

Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANET) are decentralized wireless networks that communicate without pre-existing infrastructure. MANETs vulnerable to the most popular types of attacks and threats, such as wormhole attacks. A is very challenging issues records packets from one location network tunnels them another undermines performance disrupt routing protocol. However, existing solutions have been developed overcome attack, but still suffering additional hardware, incur high delay delivery, or fail provide throughput, packet delivery ratio well consume higher energy. In this paper a hybrid attack detection (HWAD) algorithm proposed, which able detect both in-band wormholes through performs round trip time (RTT) based on its hop count, (PDR), also out-of-band transmission range between successive nodes in more optimistic manner than solutions. HWAD reduce energy avoids performing detections for all available network. does not rely any special hardware middleware. The proposed was executed using NS-2 simulator. metrics taking into consideration evaluate end delay, ratio, consuming utilized On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol improve method. experimental results shown approach outperformed compared with other algorithms.
